Cap, Gas |
Description |
Vented anti-surge locking gas cap. "ANTI-SURGE" "ENTED" stamped into metal with 2 screws underneath and smooth silver plated top of cap. There is a little of the rubber seal on the interior of the cap. In the early 1970's gas caps on cars changed from simple plugs to what we recognize today. Safety concerns in limiting fuel tank fires were one part of the change to the design, and environmental concerns in reducing the fuel vapors that escape contributing to the ground level ozone contamination. After the 1990's the design again changed as environmental restrictions were more strict leading to new technology to meet the modern requirements. Previous Description: Key lock gas cap w/ rubber seal; "anti-surge...ented" inside |
